Abstract

PURPOSE:To subject the inside surface of a pipe of a long size and small diameter in particular to build-up welding by attracting a belt-like electrode band on the top surface of an endless tracked belt inserted into the pipe, stripping this band on the front surface of said belt and feeding the same to a molten pool. CONSTITUTION:After an endless tracked belt 12 is inserted into a nozzle (pipe) 2 freely movably in and out, the inner side of the belt 12 is evacuated with a pump. A belt-like electrode band 4 is fed onto the belt 12 by means of a band feed motor and band feed rollers disposed on the outside of the nozzle 2 and is attracted to the top surface of the belt 12. In this state, the band 4 is fed to the front surface of the belt 12 along top guides 13 and front guides 14, and in this position, the band 4 is stripped by a stripping jig 15 and is fed to the molten pool below the same along the guides 14, whereby the inside surface of the nozzle 2 is subjected to build-up welding.
