Abstract

PURPOSE: When applying the continuous automatic pad welding on the inner face of a tubular bearing base metal, to form a metal lining layer having uniform welding face and the padding layer by feeding a wire from the circumferential direction of the bearing base metal.
CONSTITUTION: A welding device 3 is set at the pad end section in the axial direction of a base metal 1 . Simultaneously with the start of the welding, the welding device 3 will start the travelling in the axial direction of the base metal. Synchronously with said travel, a welding wire 6 is automatically fed from lateral direction while describing an arc in the travelling direction, and interlocked with weaving motion of the welding device 3 to be fed below said device 3 where it is dripped on the arc irradiating face of the base metal 1. When feeding the wire 6 approximately in perpendicular with the advancing direction of the welding device 3, the positional relation with the feeding direction of the wire 6 will not vary even if the advancing direction of the welding device is varied thereby specific padd welding condition can be maintained.
