Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide complete combustion of fuel for reducing substantially production of CO, HC and NOX in exhaust gas by providing a heater near a cylinder head and heating continuously the cylinder head outside the cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: The head portion of a cylinder 1 is continuously heated by a heater 5 to provide extremely high temperature in the cylinder 1. Under this condition, liquid is injected from an injection port 6 into the cylinder 1 and gasified in an instant. A piston 2 is instantly depressed by this gas pressure and when it is depressed to the lower dead point, the gas is discharged form an exhaust gas port 7. The piston 2 ascends from the lower dead point according to inertia so that the gas remaining in the cylinder 1 is forcibly exhausted form a scavenging port 8. When the piston 2 is lifted to the upper dead point to close the scavenging port 8, the liquid is again injected from the injection port 6 and hereinafter similar operation is repeated.
