Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide optimal starting of an engine, by controlling a starter in accordance with engine temperature and suction pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder 2 of an engine 1 is connected with an automatic starter 3 through a heat pipe 6 filled with inert gas. Thermowax 5 for moving a plunger 12 with a slanted tip 14 is disposed in the starter 3. The slanted tip 14 is engaged with a tip of a starter plunger 15 fixed to a diaphragm 9 so as to close or open a starting fuel passage 11 by means of a needle 16. Negative pressure in a suction pipe 26 is introduced in a diaphragm chamber 10 through a negative pressure governing valve 27. The passage 11 is open at the time of starting at low temperatures and then controlled in accordance with the negative pressure in the suction pipe 26 after the engine start.
