Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as a monomer for the preparation of polymer, easily, in high yield, by reacting hexafluoropropylene with a specific oxidizing agent in the presence of a quaternary ammonium salt in a binary phase system composed of an aqueous phase and an organic phase.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound can be prepared by adding hexafluoropropylene, a hypochlorous acid salt as an oxidizing agent, and a quaternary ammonium salt of formula (R1WR4 are hydrocarbon group; the total number of C atoms is preferably 8W70 per one quaternary ammonium ion; ⊖Y is anion) as a catalyst, to an immiscible inert solvent, and reacting the components with each other at -15W+50°C and 1W20atm. The hypochlorous acid salt is, e.g. sodium hypochlorite, potassium hypochlorite, etc., and the quaternary ammonium salt is, e.g. tri-n-octylmethyl-ammonium chloride, (n-Bu)4NCl, (n-Bu)4NHSO4, etc.
USE: Intermediate for the preparation of perfluorovinyl ether, etc.
