Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the processing time, by providing plural head block controllers that control plural head blocks as well as each head block plus an integrated controller that controls each head block controller. CONSTITUTION:A CPU1 gives an access to a magnetic disk device 5, and an access request is given to the device 5 from a CPU2 while the CPU1 is occupying the device 5. In such case, an address and a reading instruction are given to a magnetic disk controller 11 from the CPU1. The controller 11 uses a head block controller 9 to seek a head block 7 and shifts the magnetic head at the tip of a comb-shaped arm up to a target track. Then the controller 11 turns a disk pack 6 to read the data out of a sector to which an address is designated. Meanwhile an address and a reading instruction are applied to the controller 11 from the CPU2.
