Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to prepare a needle-like, columnar or platy particulate powder of CaTiO3 elongated in the crystallographic axial direction, by mixing a neelde-like particulate powder of hydrous TiO2 or anatase type TiO2 particulate powder with CaO, and calcining the resultant mixture.
CONSTITUTION: K2O.4TiO2 fibers are allowed to stand in hydrochloric acid to remove the K component, and the fibers are washed and then dried to give needle-like particulate powder of TiO2.nH2O. having a size of 5W40μm. Alternatively, the resultant powder is then heated at 850°C to give anatase type needle-like TiO2 particles, having a size of 1W10μm, and elongated in the direction of the axis (a). These neeld-like particles are then mixed with CaO, Ca(OH)2, CaCO3, etc. at an equimolar ratio, and the mixture is then calcined at 900°C or above to afford CaTiO3, as a needle-like, columnar or platey particles elongated in the crystallographic axial direction. The resultant CaTiO3 has improved magnetic characteristics as a raw material for sintering a dielectric of the particulate orientation.
