Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a grain boundary insulation type porcelain compsn. having high permittivity, inducing little temp. change and loss, and suitable for use as the dielectric of a capacitor, etc. by diffusing a specified metal oxide into a surface layer of strontium titanate type semiconductor porcelain of a specified compsn.
CONSTITUTION: SrTiO3, Nb2O5, Ta2O5, In2O3, Ga2O3, TiO2 and SrCo3 are blend ed, pulverized, press-molded, and calcined to form semiconductor porcelain. At this time, the raw materials are blended so that the a porcelain has compsn. represented by the formula. The surface of the porcelain is then coated with a predetermined amt. of BiO2-CuO mixed powder or the like and calcined, whereby the coated metal oxides are diffused into the porcelain, forming insulating layers at the grain boundary portions of the porcelain. Accordingly, a porcelain compsn. is obtd. having high insulation resistance and superior moisture resistance.
