Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a toner having a high blackening degree and giving a visible image with sufficiently high image density by polymerizing a monomer contg. dispersed specified carbon black. CONSTITUTION:To 100pts.wt. polymerizing monomer such as styrene are added 3-30pts.wt. carbon black with 70-280ml/100g DBP oil absorption and >=6.0pH, 1-20pts.wt. off-setting inhibitor such as ethylenepropylene copolymer with 100- 180 deg.C softening point and 5-95pts.wt. prepolymer with >=1,000mol.wt. such as poly-1,2-butadiene, and by applying high shearing force, the carbon black is dispersed to prepare a polymerizing composition. This composition is dispersed in an aqueous dispersant in the presence of a suspension stabilizer to regulate the grain size to desired value, and it is polymerized in the presence of a polymn. initiator. Thus, a toner for developing an electrostatic charge image is obtd. This toner gives a clear copied image free from fog.
