Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a power source from being connected frequently by providing an infrared sensor and a timer, and automatically turning off the power source when nobody watches a television. CONSTITUTION:The output of an infrared sensor 1 arranged on the front surface of a TV receiver is amplified by an amplifier 2 and converted into a rectangular wave, which is further converted into a DC output by an AC/DC converter 3. This DC output is compared with a reference voltage ER by a comparator 4, whose comparison output drives a DC relay 7 through a driving circuit 5. A counter 8 and a time setter 9 constitute a timer device and the counter 8 starts counting a clock signal supplied from the setter 9 at the point in time when the DC relay 7 is energized; when its count value attains a set point, a photorelay 11 is energized. The contact A of the photorelay 11 is inserted into the power line of a TV circuit 13 in series to a switch 12. Then, the photorelay 11 operates at the set time after a viewer lefts, thereby power on to the TV circuit 13 is turned off.
