Abstract
PURPOSE:To convert the output of a photosensor into a binary signal adequately and precisely by selecting respective outputs of binary-coding circuits which differ in slicing level on the basis of the logical output of a storage element provided at the output of one of the binary-coding circuits. CONSTITUTION:The outputs of a photosensor 21 is converted into binary signals by binary coding circuits 11-13 which have slicing levels V0/4, V0/2, and 3V0/4 respectively. At the output of the binary coding circuit 12, a shift register 17 operating as a storage element is provided and the contents (a)-(e) of the shift register 17 are applied to logical elements 24 and 25. In normal operation, only switches S2 and S3 are turned on and the output of the binary coding circuit 12 is led out to an output terminal 36. When, however, the contents (a)-(e) are all 1, the logical element 24 generates an output to turn on a switch S4, and the output of the binary coding circuit 13 is led out to the output terminal 36. When the contents (a)-(e) are all 0, the logical element 25 generates an output to turn on a switch S1, and the output of the binary coding circuit 11 is led out to the output terminal 36.
