Abstract
PURPOSE:To clearly reproduce a fine black and white pattern, by detecting the fine black and white pattern from in an analog picture signal, and switching the fine black and white pattern part to a binary-coded digital signal for black and white binary recording, from a multi-value digital signal. CONSTITUTION:An analog signal from a terminal 15 is inputted to a discriminating circuit 11, a multi-value-coding circuit 12 and a binary-coding circuit 13, respectively. The multi-value-coding circuit 12 converts an analog picture signal to a digital signal of plural bits, and outputs it to a switching circuit 14. Also, the binary-coding circuit 13 converts the analog signal to a digital signal of 1 bit, and outputs it to the switching circuit 14. When a fine black and white pattern is detected by the discriminating circuit 11, the output signal of the binary-coding circuit 13 is converted to plural bits and is outputted from the switching circuit 14. In this state, when the fine pattern comes not to be detected by the discriminating circuit 11, the output signal of the multi-value-coding circuit 12 is outputted.
