Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform correct adjustment of a measuring device readily and accurately, by forming the tooth surface of the master tooth profile so that it is deviated from the normal lead of the gear to be measured by a specified amount. CONSTITUTION:The tooth surface 23 of the tooth part 22 of the master tooth profile 20 is formed so that it is deviated from the normal lead and the center of the tooth width W is concave by h1 or convex by h2. The measuring device is adjusted so that the normal lead is given by the rotary speed of a spindle and a sliding speed, and the lead of the master tooth profile 20 is measured. When the result which conforms to the anticipated measured curve is obtained, the adjustment of the measuring device is considered to be corret. Then the master tooth profile is replaced by the tooth profile to be measured, and the lead is measured. Therefore the correct measurement of the measuring device can be performed readily and accurately.
