CONSTITUTION: A desalting agent for crude oil, prepared by mixing two or more copolymers having different molecular weights and/or ethylene oxide contents, preferably copolymers (formulaI) consisting of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide as monomers and polymers (formula II) obtained by adding ethylenediamine to the copolymers, and having an average molecular weight of 100W 12,000, preferably 2,000W4,500. The resultant desalting agent is then added to a crude oil emulsion in an amount of 0.5W1,000ppm and reacted therewith.
