Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately fire a power converter without respect to the connecting state of an input power source by firing a power rectifier with the prescribed firing phase based on the phase revolving direction of the input power source. CONSTITUTION:An inverter 100 has controllable electric valves TH1-TH3, and a mixed bridge power converter 1 including diodes D1-D3. The input power source voltage supplied to input terminals S1-S3 is converted to a rectangular wave synchronized with the positive side of interline voltage via a synchronous power source 20. A phase revolving direction detecting means 40 is interposed between the power source 20 and firing means 30. This detecting means 40 detects the phase revolving direction of the input power source, and the firing means 30 fires the converter 1 with the prescribed firing phase based on the detected output. The DC voltage from the converter 1 is converted via a power inverter 10 to AC voltage.
