Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect the corrosion of an ozonizer in the early stage, and to prevent the damage caused thereby, by attaching a bubble detector or a gas detector having a releasable gas reservior to the cooling water outlet, and inspecting the number of bubbles contained in the cooling water passing through the outlet or the number of releasing times of the stored gas.
CONSTITUTION: The ozonizer 1 contains a pair of electrodes 2, 3 disposed oppositely interposing a discharge space and a dielectric material therebetween. Ozone is generated from the oxygen passing through the discharge space by silent discharge, and the generated heat of discharge is removed with the cooling water. The bubble detector 15 is attached to the cooling water outlet 13 of the ozonizer 1, and the passing bubbles are counted. When the number is out of the normal range, an alarm is given. As an alternative method, the gas detector having the gas reservior 16 is attached to the outlet 13, and the bubbles in the cooling water is separated and stored in the reservior. As the volume of gas increases, the level of water in the reservior lowers and the connection between the electrodes 17b and 17c of the level meter 17 opens, when the gas is released by opening the electromagnetic valve 20 of the gas releasing tube 19 by the signal from the contacts of the circuitry 18. When the opening and closing frequency of the valve 20 exceeds a normal level, an alarm is given.
