Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture grids of an equalized quanlity in a short time by cutting a lead plate into many square-timberlike lead bars, joining the cut surfaces of these bars with an adhesive to form a platelike body, and bending the body into a formed body before the adhesive is dissolved. CONSTITUTION:A lead plate is cut into many square-timberlike lead bars 1A by means of a cutting blade. The cut surfaces of the bars 1A are joined to each other by applying an adhesive on them, thereby a platelike integrated body 6 consisting of many parallel arranged lead bars 1A being prepared. A flexible filler block 7 made of a plastic is made to closely touch the surface of the body 6, before the body 6 is rolled in the direction along the length of the lead bars 1A (in the direction shown by arrow B) into a coil, thereby a spiral body 8 being formed. The body 8 is put in a metal mold 9, and the end of the coil is pulled out of the mold 9 and is wound around the outer surface of the mold 9, before the body 8 is pressed along the shape of the mold 9 from outside the wound end of the coil, thus a formed body 10 being made. Thus made body 10 is immersed in a solvent dissolving the adhesive, thereby a number of grids 11 with a given shape being obtained.
