Abstract
PURPOSE:To make a unified body of a plate and a separator by making an active material to adhere to a surface of a beltlike separator except the sides of that, placing a current collecting body on a half part provided by halving the separator along its length, and bending another half part of the separator over the half part. CONSTITUTION:A paste 2 made of an active material is made to adhere to a surface of a beltlike separator, in such a manner that spaces 1a which are provided at both sides of the separator and have a given width are left not being coated with the paste 2. After that, the beltlike separator is cut into a length l, which is twice the length required for a plate, a grid 3 used as a current collecting body is placed on a half part 1A which is provided by halving the separator along the length l, and another half part 1B is bent at a center C before it is superposed over the part 1A. Next, the spaces 1a are fused, and the entire surface of the separator is pressed, thereby completing a plate 4 with the separator. By the means mentioned above, the plate 4 contained in a baglike separator can be formed quite easily. Consequently, the process number of storage battery manufacture can be greatly reduced.
