Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the spreading of paint to round the non-painting surface while painting only the one side of a steel strip by facing the bottom surface of the steel strip passing continuously in painting liquid opposite to an electrode and painting the top surface by electrodeposition while bringing the same into contact with an elastic material sheet.
CONSTITUTION: In an electrodeposition painting tank 3 filled with painting liquid 2, a strip 1 is guided by guide rolls 4, 4' and travels in the liquid 2 on an anode 5. A rubber sheet cover 6 is brought into contact with the top surface of the strip 1 by means of supporting rolls 81, 82 and tension adjusting rolls 101, 102. The cover 6 is made longer than the anode 5 and broader than the strip 1, and when it is worn by use, the fresh surface is supplied into the liquid 2 by coils 7, 9. The strip 1 as cathode is immersed within about 60mm in the liquid 2 and passes therethrough at about ≥20m/min speed. It is possible to improve the airtightness betweeen the cover 6 and the strip 1 by blowing air like arrows.
