Abstract

PURPOSE: To sterilize a medium for mushroom in a short time by saved energy, by carrying out heat sterilization and ozone sterilization using a device provided with both a steam sterilizing oven and an ozonizer.
CONSTITUTION: A container for cultivating mushroom charged with a medium with a stopper set is put in the steam sterilizing container oven 10 connected to the ozonizer 14 through the exhaust valve 12 and the valve 18, and a burner of the sterilizing oven 10 is lighted. When the heated medium is raised to the boiling temperature, the heating is stopped, the exhaust valve 12 is opened, the high-pressure steam in the oven is exhausted, and the exhaust valve 12 is then closed. When the temperature in the sterilizing oven 10 begins to drop, the ozonizer 14 is started, and sterilization is carried out by a flow having an ozone concentration of preferably about 3ppm in the oven. When the temperature in the oven is dropped to ≤ about 70°C, the ozonizer 14 is stopped.
