Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide such a highly insulative container as to permit the same to be easily held, whether heated or cooled when eating and drinking, by forming the container of a retort resisting material wherein the retort sterilization treatment is possible and covering the surface of the container with a high performance heat insulating material. CONSTITUTION:A container 1 is packed with food 2, with a treatment tank 3 attached to the lower part 1b thereof, sealed with a lid 9 attached to the upper part 1a thereof and placed in a pot at a high temperature and pressure for retort sterilization. Since the container 1 is composed of a retort resisting material, a sound retort sterilizing treatment is effected. A heating agent 4 consisting of quicklime 7 and a water bag 8 is thereafter enclosed in the treatment tank 3 and a high performance heat insulating material 12 is then applied to the surface of a cylindrical housing 1c. Before eating and drinking food 2, a pin or the like is used to break through a sealed paper 6 and then through the water bag 8 in the treatment tank 3 to cause heat generating action so as to heat the packed food 2. The aforesaid insulative feature prevents the surface of the container 1 from becoming excessively hot to permit the container to be easily held for opening and eating.
