Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the varying intensities of arc light in a small current region and arc sound in a large current region and improve working environments by changing width according to a change in the average current of welding current and maintaining pulse frequency within a desired range.
CONSTITUTION: A consumable electrode type pulse arc welding method wherein a welding wire is fed to base metals, the arc is generated between both, pulselike welding current superposed with background current and pulse current is flowed through the arc, the peak value, pulse width, frequency, and background value of the pulse current are set independently, and if the peak value as well as the pulse width, background current value and average current value are determined, the pulse frequency are unequivocally determined, and the pulse frequency is increased or decreased according to the increase or decrease of the average current. At this time, the peak value of the pulse current is fixed at an optimum value depending upon conditions, and the pulse width is increased continuously or stepwise according to the increase in the average current within the range of permissible pulses at which one globule migrates to the base metals at every one pulse.
