Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent leaking out of molten steel through clearances, by supplying a slag layer to clearances between the outer circumferential surface of a molten metal supplying nozzle and the inner surface of a mold and by filling up the clearances with the slag layer. CONSTITUTION:A slurry layer 13 is gradually formed by a blowing gun 12 which blows a slurry of powdered slag due to the movement of return way side floor of caterpillars 5 and 5, and the adhering force of powdered slurry layer 13' is increased by the hot air blown out from a hot air dryer 14. The powdered slurry layer 13' is turned from side to side to the going way side with the movement of the floor and heated by flames when it reaches the position of a burner 15. Thus the surface layer part is made to molten state. Under this condition, the layer 13' is brought to the clearance between the outer circumferential surface of head portion 4'' of nozzle 4 and the floor of caterpillars 5 and 5. Therefore, the clearance is filled with the powdered slug layer 13', and leaking out of molten steel contained in the mold through this clearance and be prevented effectively.
