Abstract
PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a control circuit for detection by facilitating detection for the short circuit of a magnetic head by providing an adding means. CONSTITUTION:Output voltages V5 and V6 from a writing circuit 10 are inputted to an adder. When a magnetic head (MH) is normal, the output voltage V7 of an adder 11 is lower than a threshold level VT invariably, but if the MH short-circuits, the output voltage is higher than said VT except for a time Tc when a voltage generated on a lead wire drops below the level VT. For this purpose, the output voltage V7 of the adder is passed through a comparator 12 having the level VT, so that the output voltage VS of the comparator 12 stays at a lower level Vs in normal operation. In case of the short circuit of the MH, if a pulse is generated or if the voltage generated at the lead wire does not drops below the VT, the output voltage stays at a higher level Vus. Thus, the short-circuit state of the MH is detected.
