Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a simple overvoltage preventive circuit with a small number of components by forming a short circuit of a protective diode for transmitting voltage clamping and SCR with its anode and cathode connected to positive and negatie maximum-voltage terminals respectively.
CONSTITUTION: A multi-power circuit which develops positive voltage E1 between terminals 1 and 2 and negative voltage -E2 between terminals 1a and 2 is provided with overvoltage detection circuits (a) and (b), SCR driver circuits A and B, and clamping diodes D1 and D2 of the opposite polarity to SCRS1 and an output voltage. The anode and cathode of SCRS1 are connected to a maximum voltage terminal of a positive voltage and a minimum voltage terminal of a negative-output absolute value respectively and its gate is also connected to output terminals of circuits A and B and OR. The moment a 1a-2 voltage of more than a fixed value is developed, circuit (a) or (b) detect the overvoltage, circuit A or B supplies a trigger signal to the gate of SCRS1 to make SCRS1 conduct and the output terminals is shorted, thereby preventing the overvoltage against a load. This circuit requires only one SCR, so that the constitution will be simplified.
