Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect a control transistor from the breakdown due to an overcurrent, by providing a diode between the load and the reference voltage with the polarity in the direction where the reference voltage receives a short circuit when a short circuit is caused to the load of a series type transistor voltage stabilizing circuit. CONSTITUTION:The output of a DC power source 1 is supplied to a load 2 via a control transistor (TR) 4. The output voltage detected by resistances 7 and 8 is compared with the reference voltage of a constant voltage diode 3 through a differential amplifying circuit 5 and then fed negatively back to the base of the TR4 to stabilize the output voltage. Furthermore, a diode 9 is connected between the collector of the TR4 and the base of TR52 of the circuit 5. In such constitution, the cathode of the diode 9 is earthed if the load 2 is mistakenly short-circuited. Thus the base voltage of the TR52 is fixed to the forward voltage of the diode 9 to cut off the TR52. As a result, the TR4 is also cut off to prevent previously the flowing of overcurrent.
