Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the performance of a shaft generating system by a method wherein a power converter is designed to withstand a varibable voltage/ variable frequency (VVVF) condition and the output end thereof switches between an AC bus or a VVVF power supply terminal. CONSTITUTION:With a variable speed main driving machine 10 on a normal run, currents in the excitation winding 26 of an AC generator 12 and the excitation winding 30 of a synchronous phase modifier 20 are regulated by adjusting a variable frequency setter 52 and a variable voltage regulator 58, which results in a VVVF voltage at the output end of an inverter 18. The VVVF voltage thus obrained opens a switch 22 to break connection between the inverter 18 and an AC bus 24 and, at the same time, closes a switch 48 so that a given load may be supplied with power through a power supply terminal 50.
