Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover heat of a steel ingot safely and also by being accompanied by an average vapor generating quantity, by utilizing the heat obtained by cooling a high temperature steel ingot, for heating the boiler water through molten salt and an intermediate heating medium.
CONSTITUTION: An intermediate heating medium 4a is made to circulate by a circulating pump 3 between a coil 2 provided in a molten salt tank 1 for storing molten salt 1a heated by directly contacting with a high temperature steel ingot, and a surge tank 4. The intermediate heating medium 4a is heated by the coil 2, rises in its temperature, heats boiler water 8a circulating in a coil 6 provided in the surge tank 4, by a pump 7, and generates vapor from a cylindrical drum 8. A temperature of the intermediate heating medium 4a is scarcely varied through the period of time when the high temperature steel ingot is caried into the molten salt 1a and is taken out, therefore, the generated quantity of the vapor 11 is not varied. Also, even in case when the pipe has been broken, water is not mixed into the high temperature molten salt, therefore, there is no possibility that a big accident is caused.
