Abstract

PURPOSE:To change the rolling position in a simple mechanism, by providing the shifters which can move independently of each other at the right and left sides of the upper and lower working roll chocks and at the same time securing the horizontal shift for the upper and lower shifters in the directions opposite to each other. CONSTITUTION:Shifters 5 and 6 engages to the right and left sides of upper and lower working roll chocks 2 and 3 respectively and then fitted into the rooms of guide frames 7 having H-shaped sections freely movably in the roll shaft direction. Thus the hydraulic pressure rooms (b) and (c) are formed with the tip sides of pistons 9 and 10 plus the shifters 5 and 6. The hydraulic pressure is supplied individually into the rooms (b) and (c) respectively to ensure an independent shift for working rolls 1 and 1' in the shaft direction. At the same time, the frame 7 is connected to the piston rod of a hydraulic cylinder 14 which is attached to the base 13 of a housing 4 by means of a pin 15. Thus both frames 7 can have the contraction of the same degree at one time by the cylinder 14. As a result, the exchange is facilitated for the rolls.
