Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the cooling effect of a cooling device for a motor by providing a plurality of air gaps axially passing between a core and a surface conductor tube, forming an annular space at the end, and sealing a work fluid therein, thereby forming a heat pipe. CONSTITUTION:In a surface conductor motor in which a cylindrical conductor 7b is engaged with the surface of a rotor core 7a, a plurality of slits 8 axially passing are formed between the outer periphery of the core 7a and the surface conductor 7b. An annular space 7d communicating with the slits k8 is formed between the end face of the core and an end ring 7c, work fluid is sealed therein, and a cooling fin 7e is formed at the end face of the end ring 7c. In this manner, the slits 8 and the space 7d form a heat pipe, thereby efficiently removing the heat generted at the surface conductor 7b and the core 7a.
