PURPOSE:To obtain an oxygen concentration detector having excellent durability by coaxially connecting a stationary tube which holds a sensor tube to be inserted into a flame, a photoconductor and a photodetector with a metal sleeve and elastically holding the sensor tube through a spring. CONSTITUTION:A detector 13 to be mounted on a wall 4 with a sensing section to be disposed above a burner 7 in a heater gas combustor is composed of a sensor tube 21 and a cylindrical metal holder 22 which supports one end side of the tube 21. The detector 13 also has a photodetector 23 secured in the holder 22 and a photoconductor 24 movably inserted at one end side into the tube 21 and provided at the end face of the other end side in contact with the photodetector 23. The sensor rube 21 is formed, for example, of high quality alumina material by providing a spacer 26 at the open end, is simultaneously disposed in the holder 22 through the spacer 26 at the time of inserting into the holder 22, and is elastically held by a spring 28 contained in the holder 22.
