Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the detector higher in sensitivity and accuracy by holding salt in ring form so as to encircle a flame on the inner side of the bottom part of the counter electrode disposed on the outside circumference of the flame and disposing a hollow collector electrode right above the flame thereby forming the thermal ionization detector. CONSTITUTION:A counter electrode 9 formed in such a shape in which the bottom end of a cylindrical shape is bent to the inner side is so installed in a body 6 that its lower opening part opposes to a nozzle 12 outlet and a hollow disc form ion source 11 composed of alkaline metal salt or the like is filled in the abovementioned bent part. On the other hand, a collector electrode 7 of hollow cylindrical form is dispoded above these. The carrier gas containing sample introduced from channel 17 and the hydrogen from an inlet port 4 are mixed and the mixed gases are spouted from the nozzle 12 and are added with oxygen from an inlet port 3 to be burnt, thereby forming an oxyhydrogen flame. The sample in the carrier gas is ionized by the oxyhydrogen flame and further reacts with the alkaline metal salt having been heated, then the ion currents owing to the components containing P, N, etc. flow between the counter electrode and collector electrode and the detected values are displayed in a recorder 22.
