Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent abnormal bar code printing by generating an abnormality signal when any one of heat generating resistors is damaged detecting an energization state to heat generating resistors while a picture signal selection circuit is not operated in a heat-sensitive head. CONSTITUTION:Heat generating resistors 35 of a heat-sensitive head 8 are divided into several sets (3 in the drawing) of blocks COM 1-3 and a matrix wiring is arranged for a common electrode selection circuit 5 and a picture signal selection circuit 6. In the normal operation, some signals come during the timing as shown by the dotted line D-G when common electrode signals A-C are generated and the heat generating resistors are energized to print a bar code or a character. Immediately after the generation of the signals A-C, a pulseIis generated from a pulse generation circuit 10 before the generation of signals D-G. At this point, if the heat generating resistors 35 are all normal, the inputs to a gate 45 are the H level while the output thereof is the L level. If any one of the resistors is damaged, one of the inputs goes to the L level while the outputs of the gate 45 go to the H level.
