Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the life of a heat sensitive head by performing a printing with the energization thereof only when a label about to be printed on the head is normal through detecting whether it is normal or not. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of heat generating resistors are arranged straight in rows. In a heat-sensitive label printer designed to feed a lable 13 to be printed to a heat-sensitive head 8 with a matrix wiring, a label detecting section 8 is provided to check to see if the label 13 is set normally on the heat-sensitive head 8 or fed accurately. The label detecting section detects the state without label or improper feeding thereof and indicates abnormality by a display section while printing is prohibited. This heat-sensitive head is moved in the direction of being separated from the label.
