Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound easily, industrially, in hgh efficiency and selectivity, by reacting a specific alcohol using a homogeneous system catalyst such as ruthenium compound, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound is prepared by reacting the alcohol compound of formula[R1WR3 are H, (substituted) alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, or hetero-ring residue]or reacting said alcohol compound with the compound of formula R4OH (R4 has the same definition as R1), in the presence of a homogeneous system catalyst consisting of a ruthenium compound, a palladium compound or a rhodium compound.
USE: A γ- and δ-lactone can be also prepared easily by applying the process to a diol.
