Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify facilities and construction and to reduce the production of excess sludge by operating the two settling basins which are connected to oxidation channels of an elliptical shape in plane for sewage treatment via specific blocking plates and have rotating bodies and overflow weirs alternately.
CONSTITUTION: The rotating body 8 of the 1st settling basin 6 is rotated to flow the sewage mixed with sludge into said basin. At this time, a blocking plate 4 is tilted by the flow to allow easy inflow of the water mixed with sludge. When the rotating body is stopped after it is rotated for a constant time with a timer, the plate 4 erects aporoximately upright to block the inflow of the sludge from an oxidation channel 2. From this, the sludge in the basin 6 settles, and after a constant time, the supernatant is overflowed from an overflow weir. At the start of the overflowing, the sludge included in the overflow weir is returned through a control valve and a piping into the channel 2. Upon lapse of the time when there is no more inclusion of the sludge in the supernatant, the supernatant is sterilized and is released as treated water. After it is overflowed for a constant time, the automatic control valve of the overflow pipe is fully shut, and this completes the treatment cycle of the basin 6. On the other hand, the treatment in a settling basin 7 is accomplished with time lag so as not to overlap with the treatment of the basin 6 in time.
