Abstract
PURPOSE: To control sludge smoothly by a method wherein the quantity of a dirty liquid actually precipitated in a sedimentation basin is obtained and the optimum sludge extracting period is determined.
CONSTITUTION: Raw water is introduced to a chemical mixing basin 10 from a water reaching well 9, a coagulant, etc. are added here, and the raw water is induced to a sedimentation basin 1 through the next flock forming basin. The sludge extraction of such a sedimentation basin is controlled in such a manner that the quantity of raw water Q, the turbidity of raw water Tu and the quantity of the coagulant injected α are each measured by means of a flow meter 7, a turbiditymeter 13 and a coagulant injecting quantity meter 8, the quantity of sludge W is obtained according to an operation formula W=Q×(Tu+α)×K1×K2, sludge discharge starting instructions are emitted by means of a controller 3 when the quantity of sludge W reaches a prescribed value A, sludge discharge stop instructions are emitted by means of the controller 3 when time reaches a prescribed time after a sludge discharge valve 2 is opened, and the sludge discharge valve 2 is closed. In the formula, K1 is the precentage of moisture content and K2 an effective working factor.
