Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable the sludge settled in a settling basin to be removed accurately by obtaining the opening-closing timings for a sludge removal valve from the amount of the sludge having settled in the settling basin.
CONSTITUTION: The flow rates of the feed water 1 flowing into a settling basin 4 and the treated water 9 flowing out from the basin 4 are measured on line with flow meters 2, 8, and further the respective turbidity thereof are measured with turbidimeters 3, 7. The respectively detected anaounts are converted to electric signals with converters 10W13 and these signals are inputted to a control device 15. Here, the differences between the inflow and outflow sludge flow rates of the basin 4 are obtained on line in consideration for the stangnation time of water in the basin, and these are integrated with an integrator, whereby the amount of the sludge having settled in the basin 4 is calculated. This and a preset removal sludge amount are compared, and if the former exceeds the latter, the opening command for a removal valve 5 is output to a driving device 14. The opening time of the valve 5 is obtained from the graph of the figure and the valve 5 is held open until the next close command is output.
