Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent any unnecessary electric discharge, and increase the life of a gas electric-discharge panel by providing a protruding structure on the inner surface of an upper base plate by printing or something similar so as to narrow the gas space. CONSTITUTION:A gas electric-discharge panel has a pair of base plates 10 and 17, an X-electrode 11, a Y-electrode 14, a float electrode 13 and a dielectric layer 15. A structure 19 used as a barrier is provided on the inner surface of the base plate 17 on the upper glass cover side so that the structure 19 protrudes from the inner surface of the plate 17. Since the structure 19, which is formed of an insulating material such as low-melting-point glass, is on the inner surface of the plate 17 and corresponds to the X-electrode 11, the discharging gap formed over the intersection between the X-electrode 11 and the Y-electrode 14 is blocked with the structure barrier.
