Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable to perform a high-reliable and quantitative measurement of a distance among all fuel elements, by a method wherein an oscillating angle of an oscillating measureing lever, mounted between the fuel elements, is detected through the working of a vortex displacement gauge. CONSTITUTION:Through turning of a screw lever 13 by means of a motor 12, a scanning body 11 moves vertically under guidance of stays 7 and 7' and in parallel to fuel aggregate 4 vertically held by an aggregate holding device 5. In a given position, a transfer disc part 22, attached to the scanning base body 11, is moved in directions of arrow marks B and B' to insert a measuring probe 17 at a forward end of a measuring lever 15 into an appropriate position between two fuel elements 14, 14. By turning of the measuring lever 15 through the force of wind pressure or other power source, an oscillating angle theta ranging from a position A, where the measuring prove 17 contacts the one fuel element 14, to a position A', whereit contacts the other fuel element 14, is detected by a metal plate 18, moving in synchronism with the measuring lever 14, and a vortex displacement gauge 19 to directly measure a distnace between fuel elements. Additionally, the measuring probe 15 is freely inserted all the way through between fuel element at the inside, and this enables to perform a hig-reliable and quantitative measurement of a distance among all the fuel elements.
