Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the vertical and horizontal resistance of a composite steel sheet pile type culvert as well as to improve its economy by combining a steel sheet pile for sheathing with reinforced concrete side wall for the culvert with the interposition of dowels. CONSTITUTION:Steel sheet piles 1 for sheathing are driven undergound, and the area between the steel sheet piles 1 is excavated. Dowels 7 are provided to the inner faces and bottoms of the steel sheet piles 1 exposed, and reinforced concrete 5 is placed all over there to construct an open conduit. Also, reinforced concrete 5b is placed on the upper opening to construct a culvert.
