Abstract

PURPOSE: To adhere fine metallic oxide particles having a specific particle diameter, e.g. colorless particles, to the inner wall of hollow fibers and obtain fibers having permanent antistatic properties, by injecting a dispersion of the metallic particles into the hollow parts of fibers in spinning, and extracting the dispersion liquid from the wound fibers.
CONSTITUTION: In spinning hollow synthetic fibers, e.g. polyester or polyamide, a dispersion of fine colorless W white metallic oxide particles having an average particles diameter ≤1μ, preferably a tin oxide dispersion in glycerol, is injected into the hollow parts of the fibers in the extrusion thereof. The resultant fibers are then taken up and treated with boiling water, etc. to extract and remove the liquid of the dispersion to adhere 1wt% or more fine particles to the inner wall of the fibers and impart the antistatic properties thereto. Preferably, a small amount of an adhesion assistant, e.g. polyethylene glycol, having a molecular weight ≥4,000 is added the dispersion.
EFFECT: No coloring due to the absence of carbon black.
