Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of hardening deformation and to make cold correction virtually unnecessary by immersing a stabilizer in a quenching medium while restraining and supporting its root parts and leg parts by means of a form member.
CONSTITUTION: After a hollow stabilizer 1 for automobiles, etc. is heated to prescribed temp., the root parts 2 and the leg parts 3 of the stabilizer 1 are restrained and supported by using plural clamps 7 provided to the body 6 of a form member 5. In this state, the stabilizer 1 is immersed in the quenching medium 10 in a hardening tank 9 together with the member 5, and the member 5 is held by the supporting member 11 of the tank 9, whereby the stabilizer is hardened. By this hardening method, the rate of shape defects is reduced, and the defective products are made into non-defective products with the simple correction despite the production of some defective products.
