Abstract
PURPOSE:To calibrate a dissolved oxygen meter easily in the state that it is submerged in water by placing slidably the detection section of a dissolved oxygen meter into a cylindrical guard and sealing the detection section into the guard during its calibration and supplying air into the sealed space. CONSTITUTION:The oxygen sensing section 15 of a dissolved oxygen meter is placed slidably in a cylindrical guard 14 and the arm 18 of the covering ball 19 of the guard 14 is made slidable along a slide hole 14a of the cylinder 14. A seal 17 is provided between the cylinder 14 and a sensor section 15a, so that leakage of the liquid to be measured and air is prevented when the sensor section 15a is pulled up in the cylinder 14. During measurement the face 16 of the sensor lies under the lower end of the cylinder 14 and during calibration it is placed in the cylinder 14, and atmospheric air is supplied through a pipe 20 and the guard 14 stays submerged in the water to be measured. In this arrangement the temperature of the supplied air soon reaches that of the water to be measured and it is saturated with water vapor. Calibration of a dissolved exygen meter can be, therefore, made swiftly and without temperature compensation.
