Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid level gauge system which can measure accurately the liquid level in a high-temperature and high pressure container by correcting a measurement error due to the vaporing of a reference water head and that due to the variation in density of a liquid. CONSTITUTION:The lower flank of container 1 is provided with pressure conduit 4, and the upper flank with communicating tube 8; and pressure conduit 4, communicating tube 8, and piping 7 passed through chamber (b) are connected to a differential pressure transducer to measure differential pressure DELTAP. If a steam feed pipe is broken, the temperature of the pressure container reaches the saturation temperature to pressure P, so differential pressure DELTAP is LVL1-HVL-VG(L-H), where the reference water head is L, the liquid surface H, the steam density in the pressure container VG, fluid density in the pressure container VL, and the reference water head density VL1. Therefore, liquid level H in the pressure container is found by H= [L(VL1-VG)-DELTAP]/(VL-VG), so that even in case of an accidient, the accurate water level can be measured.
