Abstract

PURPOSE: Aqueous ferric chloride is added to ground protein waste, thus enabling simple disposition of waste product with bad smells.
CONSTITUTION: A waste mainly consisting of fish waste or fowl dropping crushed and an aqueous solution of ferric chloride is added thereto by 3W 10wt% based on the waste. They are stirred for several minutes and separated into the liquid part and the solid part. The liquid part is discarded and the solid part is dehydrated by pressing or centrifugation, dried and utilized as a fertilizer or feed. The amount of ferric chloride added is controlled so that the supernatant does not become yellow.
