Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent transmission due to malfunction and mis-operation, by giving an alarm through the detection that a prescribed amount of black background is included in a data after the start of transmission in a fascimile device reading an original optically. CONSTITUTION:An original MS is carried to an original carrying path WY, the original is irradiated with a light source LS and the result is received with a photoelectric tube HS. An electric signal is transmitted to a telephone line TPL via a binary circuit BNC, a buffer BF, a data compression circuit DCP and a data transmission circuit DTM. On the other hand, a read start signal RSS from a facsimile operation control section FCT and a reading data signal RDS from a circuit BNC are applied to a control circuit CTL for detecting operation. The circuit CTL detects, e.g., white and black, and transmits a set/reset signal to a timer circuit TM. The circuit TM measures the time up to the reset signal after the set signal by counting it with the count of a clock signal CL and a signal is transmitted to an alarm circuit ALM when a prescribed value is exceeded for output of alarm.
