CONSTITUTION:When photodetector arrays 23 and 24 are selected by a selecting circuit 30, illuminance information of two photodetectors are sampled and held by circuits 32-1-32-2n. The digital signal from a circuit 31 is subjected to D/A conversion in a D/A converter 33 and is supplied to comparators 35-1-35-2n. This converted signal is compared with values of analogue signals of circuits 32-1-32-2n. Comparison outputs are supplied to memories 34-1-34-2n, and digital signal is stored when the comparison output is inverted. After that, the circuit 31 reads out illuminance information of respective photodetectors in memories 34-1-34-2n through an address bus 36 and a decorder 37 to operate the quantity of lateral deviation.
