Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain an electrode having high catalytic activity and undergoing a very small reduction in the catalytic activity by long-time electrolysis by forming a coat with the activity of a catalyst for electrolytically oxidizing methanol on the electrically conductive substrate of an electrode with a Pt-Rh composition having a specified composition.
CONSTITUTION: The coat 1 of an electrode is formed with a Pt-Rh composition contg. 5W20mol% Rh. When the Rh content is not within said range, the resistance to poisoning is deteriorated, and a reduction in the electrolytic current density with the passage of time is increased.
