Abstract
PURPOSE:To maintain the heating temp. of metallic strips to prescribed value in a continuous heat treatment furnace for the strips by controlling the transfer speeds of the strips and the blowing rates of gases in conformity with the passage of the joint of the strips when the thickness of the strips change. CONSTITUTION:In the case of changing, for example, a thin strip m1 to a thick strip M1 in a floating continuous heat treatment furnace, the quantity of heat is so controlled as to eliminate the change in the temps. of the strips m1, m2 at the outlet of the furnace. More specifically, in order to increase the quantity of heat of the thick strip m2, the transfer speed of both strips m1, m2 is lowered in conformity with the thick strip m2 upon arriving of the joint C at the inlet of the furnace. At this same instant, the rates of blowing of gases in respective zonesI-V are lowered. The rates of blowing are increased successively from the zones through which the joint C has passed. Thereby, the sufficient quantity of heat is obtained with both the strips m1, m2, and the temp. at the outlet of the furnace is maintained without any change.
